Under Czech copyright law the photographer keeps the copyright to the images; the client receives a licence to use them. Most disputes come from unclear expectations, so this article explains what our licence covers and when an extended licence is needed. It is general information, not legal advice.
What the standard licence covers
- Marketing of the photographed property or business: portals, your website, social media, brochures, e-mail.
- No time limit while you market that property or business.
- Use by the client and their agents, for example a developer and the selling agency.
What needs an extended licence
- Paid advertising campaigns, billboards and out-of-home.
- Resale or transfer of the images to a third party, for example a furniture brand or a portal’s own marketing.
- Use for a different property or company than the one photographed.
- Exclusive use that prevents the photographer from showing the work in a portfolio.
When the property changes hands
If an agency photographed a flat and the owner later lists it with another agency, the licence does not automatically transfer. We handle this case by case; usually a small fee re-licenses the images to the new agency.
People in the photos
Staff, guests and models appearing in hotel and restaurant photos must give written consent. We provide a simple consent form and keep a copy.
How to avoid disputes
- Get the licence scope in writing before the shoot; our quotes state it.
- Do not strip the metadata from the files; it identifies the licence holder.
- Ask before giving the images to a third party.
Our FAQ and the quote itself spell out the licence for every project.
Häufig gestellte Fragen

Can the photographer use my hotel photos in their portfolio?
Yes, unless an exclusive licence is agreed. We never publish before you do.
